Persistence

Persistence is the final theme that Step to College scholars will be introduced to. During this year of the program, scholars will learn the habits of a persistent person. Developing an all-consuming, deeply ingrained vision will drive them forward and forming habits/self-discipline will keep them moving during hard time. Scholars will also learn that confident people are seldom swayed by the opinion of on-lookers and that identifying what they want will aid in building inner confidence to achieve it. Key components of this this theme are:
  • If you really want something, you’ll find a way to do it; excuses imply you don’t really want
  • Adjust and adapt your action plan when it is evident your plan is not working o A goal worth having requires time, commitment and effort
  • New ideas can be incorporated into your efforts toward your vision
  • Identify role models that can double as guides or mentors o Choose your “inner circle” wisely

Step to College (S2C) offers high school scholars and prospective college applicants an opportunity to experience the expectations and rigor of college through academic, social, recreational, and community related experiences
